These work good. I use them for traffic control. Range is no where near 25 miles though. As is with any of these types of radios. 2 miles on a good day. 1 mile all day long. The rechargeable batteries last me more than a day, and that's u set heavy use. Used them from 6am until 9pm during heavy traffic control and stayed at 2 bars all day. Never dropped below that. Buy a set of Westinghouse rechargeable batteries and they'll last forever. I bought 40AA rechargeable batteries for 20 as a backup.

[Edited} Below you will find my original review.Today was the first time I used these, and what a disappointment they are. About a 1/4 mile apart and you can't get a signal. Can't hear the other party on the other Walkie Talkie. I wish I could return them, and I wish i hadn't waited so long to use them. My advice...Get a different set of Walkie Talkies. They arrived in new condition. Delivery was very fast. I've only tested them from one room to the other, they sound fine. They are small, and light weight. Can't wait to use them on a trip.
